TUSCALOOSA NEWS- It's Week 11 of the high school football season in the Tuscaloosa area. Here is a look at three top games:
Thursday
Gordo at Pickens County
Gordo, the No. 4-ranked team in Class 4A according to the Alabama Sports Writers Association, already knows it has a home playoff game against Brooks in the first round. Gordo is led by four-star junior quarterback Tanner Bailey.
Pickens County, the No.8-ranked team in Class 1A, opens the playoffs against Woodville. The Tornadoes have held opponents to 16.0 points per game.
Pickens County lost to Gordo 39-0 in 2019.
Friday
Tuscaloosa County at Northridge
Tuscaloosa County will look to finish the season on a positive note. The Wildcats are led by senior running back and Troy commit Damien Taylor, who totaled three touchdowns in last week's loss.
Northridge secured a spot in the playoffs at Saraland. The Jaguars are led by junior running back Li'Eric Street and a defense which holds opponents to 12.2 points per game.
Tuscaloosa County beat Northridge 42-17 in 2019.
Demopolis at Hillcrest
Demopolis, the No. 9-ranked team in Class 5A, is undefeated. The Tigers will host Rehobeth in round one of the playoffs.
Hillcrest (8-1) is in the playoffs and face McGill-Toolen in the first round. The Patriots continue to overpower opposing defenses with quarterback Ethan Crawford, who has the offense scoring nearly 35 points per game.
Hillcrest beat Demopolis 42-17 in 2016.
