TUSCALOOSA, AL. - Alabama football teammates Jalen Hurts and DeVonta Smith will be taking the field together again in Philadelphia after the 2020 Heisman trophy winner was drafted No. 10 overall by the Eagles on Thursday.
Hurts, a former Alabama star quarterback, took to Twitter to welcome his friend and newly acquainted teammate to the Eagles.
Hurts tweeted “Run It Back Thennnn My Boy! You Deserve It All Brotha , Congrats !! Let’s Get To It 6‼️” and tagged the top wide receiver in college football. Smith finished his college career with 3,965 receiving yards and 46 touchdowns, playing with Hurts as a freshman.
Hurts transferred to Oklahoma in his final college season before going No. 53 overall in the second round in 2020. Hurts played in 15 games as a rookie, starting four late in the season.
The Eagles moved on from Carson Wentz this offseason, making Hurts the favorite to be named a 2021 starter.
