Friday night lights becomes Thursday action for area high school football teams this week

By: Brett Greenberg

TUSCALOOSA NEWS- The eighth week of the high school football season has arrived with the potential for severe weather from Hurricane Delta.

Nearly all games that were scheduled for Friday night have been moved to Thursday to get them in before heavy weather hits the area.

Paul W. Bryant will now host Brookwood on Thursday.

Stampede coach Eldrick Hill says a change in schedule affects his team's preparation tremendously.

"Everything from the players to the field painters is being adjusted this week," he said. "We usually have 'Tenacious Tuesday,' where we go full speed, but the coaches and I felt that we need to back off that to avoid injuries."

Hill said the scheduling change will allow his players to get more rest next week and also let him and his staff scout future opponents if they are playing.

Some games have also been canceled. American Christian's game at Wilcox County will not be played, and Northside at Curry has been canceled due to complications from COVID-19 at Curry. Freedom-Huntsville at North River Christian Academy was also dropped from the schedule. Here is a look at this week's games in the Tuscaloosa area. All games are subject to change due to coronavirus concerns or weather:
