Alabama football offensive tackle Evan Neal looks remarkably slimmer at 2022 NFL Combine

TUSCALOOSA, AL. - Alabama football’s Evan Neal is already turning heads at the 2022 NFL Combine despite declining to participate in all on-field drills. The consensus All-American checked in at 337 pounds prior to the combine. He is listed as 350 pounds per the Alabama football team site.

Neal announced last week he will not participate in any NFL Combine workouts and will wait until Alabama's Senior Day on March 30. Neal will carry out interviews throughout the week as well.

Neal took the stage Thursday morning and talked about his decision to not test at the combine.

"It was a long season, I wanted to give myself a little more time to prepare," Neal said. "After talking to my agent, we thought this would be the best route to go for me."

He also mentioned what it mean for him to picked No. 1.

"You have a whole lot of Alabama players that were worthy of having the No. 1 spot. If the stars align for that to be me, that would be extremely special."

NBC Sports Analyst Chris Simms tried to get a good laugh at Alabama coach Nick Saban's expense, but Neal didn't budge. Several NFL personalities and analysts took to Twitter to share their thoughts.
