10 high school softball players to watch in the West Alabama area

High school softball is underway in the West Alabama area and across the state. Here are 10 players in the Tuscaloosa area to watch as the 2021 season progresses:

Becca Leigh Chadwick, Northside, sophomore: The pitcher/first baseman out of Northside High School batted .533 with two home runs and six RBIs in a recent weekend s tournament. She also struck out 37 batters in 21 innings pitched.

Bo Clark, Northside, junior: The pitcher/first basemen out of Northside High School struck out 26 batters in 14 innings pitched while hitting .333 with 14 RBIs last season. She junior batted .278 with a triple, a double, a single, 2 walks, and 4 RBI She also pitched four innings, recording six strikeouts

Rose Costanza, American Christian Academy, senior: The pitcher/shortstop/third baseman out of ACA displays power to all fields and discipline in the infield. Costanza was a big part of the 2019 Class 4A state championship team.

E.K. Fife, Hillcrest, senior: Hillcrest's catcher leads the team in batting average and RBIs. Fife is batting .500 with a .657 on-base percentage. Fife led the Patriots to runner-up finishes in two tournaments. Fife is planning on attending Shelton State to play softball.

Haley Ingram, ACA, senior: The centerfielder out of ACA is committed to Faulkner University. Ingram has great speed and athleticism. Ingram also started on the 2019 championship team.

Emily Lafoy, Hale County, senior: The pitcher/utility out of the powerhouse Hale County program leads the Wildcats in batting average (.533) and is tied for second for total hits (21) and runs (15). Lafoy was part of team that played in the 2018 Class 4A state championship game.

Matti Morrow, Hillcrest, senior: The Patriots' senior pitcher has seven wins on the season with 20 strikeouts in 28 innings pitched. Morrow posts a 2.00 ERA. She signed to play at Shelton State in January.

Emma Price, Tuscaloosa Academy, senior: The pitcher/utility player out of Tuscaloosa Academy has been the ace for the Knights for four years. Coach Olivia Gibson says Price has been a big bat in the four-hole for the 2021 team so far.

Syndey Savage, Northridge, senior: The Northridge pitcher/first baseman leads the Jaguars' rotation and adds power with her bat. In a game against Bibb County, Savage struck out 18 batters.

Allie Taylor, Berry, senior: The catcher/first baseman/pitcher for Berry High School has a .630 batting average and has thrown out five base runners through four games. In her junior year, Taylor struck out just one time in the season, etching her name in the record books.
