Smith & Rockey Combine for No-Hitter

By: Brett Greenberg

MARIETTA, Ga. – Power Baseball 2022 is off to great start after throwing a no-hitter in the first pool play game in the 2020 PG 16U WWBA National Championship.

Kolten Smith, an Alabama commit, started the game for Power Baseball posting four innings of work with nine strikeouts. Smith used his 90-mph fastball to overpower the Wow Factor Showcase Team.

Knute Rockey kept the Wow Factor batters silent in his three innings of work. Rockey posted seven strikeouts in his outing while throwing only four seam fastballs. He is currently uncommitted and ranked as the 79th pitcher in Florida.

Power Baseball won the game 1-0 thanks to a lead-off triple in the bottom of the fourth by Trent Gowada who came around to score on a ground ball to the shortstop. They look to carry over their momentum into the next pool play game, which will be played at 8 a.m. Saturday morning at the East Cobb Complex.
