The Tuscaloosa Amphitheater and River Market will be getting major upgrades in the coming months after the Tuscaloosa Public Projects Committee approved the project for RCI Contractors & Engineers Inc.

For this project, bids from companies were to be turned in by Sept. 25 and the awarded bidder was chosen on Oct. 1 at city hall.

There were five bidders for this project, but the committee opted for the company with the lowest bid for the project of $143,242.00.

“The project for the upgrades of the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater and River Market has been granted to RCI Contractors & Engineers Inc.,” said Councilor Phyllis Wade Odom. “We felt like this company will do a great job, not to mention they were the lowest bidder.”

The amphitheater is getting most of the allotted money for the project.

The concrete construction joints will be getting replaced as well as the exterior beams and structures getting repainted.

The interior doors will also be getting renovated along with the signs outside the amphitheater.

The River Market will not be getting as heavy of an overhaul but the ramp connecting the Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports parking to the Riverwalk trail will get some concrete renovated.

“We are thrilled that the city and public projects committee approved our bid to upgrade the amphitheater and Riverwalk,” said Tyler Vodopich, a graduate engineer at City of Tuscaloosa.

The project for the amphitheater and Riverwalk is just one of several projects that were approved at this meeting.
