TUSCALOOSA, AL. - The Alabama pitching staff now has combined for 37 strikeouts, a record for the number of strikeouts by Alabama pitchers in a single NCAA regional round.
The 37th strikeout by Montana Fouts in the fourth inning in the championship round of the Tuscaloosa regional broke the 2007 Crimson Tide’s record of 36. It took that year’s staff five games to reach that mark, this year’s rotation set a record in just three games.

Lexi Kilfoyl struck out 15, including 14 in a row to begin the game in the 9-0 win over Alabama State in the regional opener. Krystal Goodman added a strikeout as well in two-thirds innings of relief.
In the first matchup against Clemson, Montana Fouts tied her career-high in a single game with 16 strikeouts. She has 18 appearances with 10-plus strikeouts.

Entering the game, the Crimson Tide pitching staff was a combined 47-7 with a 1.71 ERA, .99 WHIP and 480 strikeouts while holding an opponent batting average of .191.
