TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama football team took the field Saturday April 13 for the annual A-day game. The A-day game is an intersquad scrimmage to showcase what the players have learned from the previous month while participating in Spring practice.

For most players, there is not too much pressure to perform at an outstanding level. Antonio Alfano the number one player in the country for the 2019 recruiting class, however, does have plenty to prove on the field to show that he has the potential to be the next world class defensive end that Alabama football has produced and sent to the National Football League for the past 12 years. “I am excited to take the next step for my career in the Spring game and hopefully make a name for myself,” Alfano said.

The Spring game serves as more of a fan experience and a social gathering for both Alabama students and alumni. This game gives the beloved fans a preview of what the 2019- enrollee Antonio Alfano took advantage of his opportunity last Saturday while tallying two sacks on the day while also showing his ability to disrupt the offensive line and getting to the quarterback. “Tone showed out Saturday for a mid-year enrollee, he showed that he is capable of being dominant in the SEC and in college” Kedrick Jones (#44) said.

Oddly enough, Alfano is supposed to be a senior at Colonia High School in his hometown of Colonia, New Jersey. Alfano is a mid-year enrollee and stepped foot onto campus after the Fall semester of 2018. Like any other kid going to college, adjusting to life far from home and away from parents can be difficult and especially challenging if you are the top college recruit and player in the country. “It has been an adjustment coming from New Jersey, but the coaches, players and other students at UA have been more than welcoming” Alfano, said.

The Spring game has concluded and as a result, spring training is over. It is officially the offseason for Alfano and the Alabama football team, but that means one thing. Real football in the Fall against the South Eastern Conference is next for this young phenom and the rest of the team.

This Alabama team expects nothing less than making it to the National College Football Playoff and have a chance to compete for a national title.
