The 2021 Alabama Crimson Tide softball team was ranked eighth in the NFCA, USA Softball and D1 Softball preseason rankings Tuesday afternoon.

The 2020 Crimson Tide finished ranked No. 12 in the final Softball America Poll after the shortened season. The Softball American preseason rankings will be released next week.

The recently-announced schedule and preseason rankings mean the Crimson Tide will have 22 games against teams ranked in the preseason top 25. Seven out of the 10 teams in those 22 games will be against SEC opponents.

The 2021 roster returns 17 players from last year with five newcomers. Montana Fouts, 2019 SEC Freshman of the Year, and 2019 SEC Pitcher of the Year Sarah Cornell will both return to the circle and lead a stacked pitching staff.

The Crimson Tide is scheduled to begin the 2021 campaign Feb. 12-14 in Austin, Texas, at the Texas Classic playing No. 3-ranked Arizona and No. 6-ranked Texas, according to NFCA preseason polls, and Colorado State.

The Crimson Tide's first SEC opponent will be March 12-14 when it visits Auburn.

UCLA is ranked preseason No.1 in all three polls.
